Important DacMagic safety notice

This notice applies to owners of DacMagic models manufactured between September 2007 and October 2009 only.

It does not affect any other DacMagic product such as DacMagic Plus or DacMagic 100.

In summer 2009 we were alerted to a problem of cracks appearing in the casework of some DacMagic Power Supply Units (PSUs) after a period of sustained use.

We believe this only affects a minority of PSUs of the UK 3-pin type and European 2-pin type.

However Cambridge Audio has taken the decision to replace all DacMagic PSUs of these types as this product accessory may become defective over time.

Please follow these steps to see whether your PSU is affected and if necessary, order a PSU replacement which will be supplied free of charge:

First check your DacMagic Power Supply Unit.

If your PSU looks like either of the models in Group A, you MUST ORDER A REPLACEMENT PSU.


If your PSU looks like any of the models in Group B, your PSU is one of the new replacement models and you do not need to take any action. It is safe to continue using it as normal.

Group A - Original PSU design (REPLACEMENT PSU REQUIRED)

If your PSU appears in Group A, you must check it carefully. If the top cover is cracked, loose or damaged, you must stop using your PSU immediately.


Now please follow these simple steps.

1. Switch off the power to the socket, extension lead or fuse board.

2. Pull out the PSU from the power socket by gripping the case on both sides towards the rear. In the unlikely instance of the top cover coming off, take extreme care removing the base part of the PSU as there may be sharp edges and the transformer may be hot.

3. Before disposing of your PSU, cut its lead with scissors to stop it being used in future.

4. Dispose of it responsibly using recycling facilities where they exist.


How to obtain your free replacement PSU

You can obtain a replacement PSU by:

A - Contacting your supplying dealer and visiting them to collect a new PSU. You can locate your supplying dealer by clicking here

N.B. From November 2009, DacMagic units were supplied with a new design of PSU at the factory and no models produced after this point are affected. Please follow the guide below to confirm if your PSU should be replaced.


If it looks like any of the PSUs in Group B below, your PSU is one of the new replacement models and you do not need to take any action. It is safe to continue using it as normal.

Group B - New PSU design (NO ACTION REQUIRED)

Finally we would like to assure our customers that the originally supplied PSU is fully safety approved for use in all markets and is fully compliant with all necessary safety legislation.
