The modern speaker with a big voice
The Aeromax 2 speakers take the award-winning Aero 2 speakers to the next level of performance.
Using a BMR driver instead of a traditional tweeter gives the Aero series several key advantages – adding up to a radical difference in audio quality compared to its rivals. Remove your preconceptions of what a speaker this size can do and listen for yourself.
Tested in Cambridge Audio’s in-house listening room, as well as in living rooms around the world, our dedicated team of engineers spent thousands of hours expertly tuning Aero to the max, providing you with even better sound.
If you look beyond the new glossy exterior, and you’ll find there’s more than meets the eye with the new Aeromax speakers:
New BMR driver. Aeromax 2 and Aeromax 6 both feature a brand new, 4th generation BMR driver with exceptional high frequency extension to deliver a crisp and detailed top end
Improved crossover. Aeromax uses ultra high grade crossover components to bring superb levels of detail and transparency
Superior cabinet bracing. Extensively braced cabinets lock the drive units mechanically to the cabinet structure resulting in lower colouration and cleaner dynamics. This is especially important with Aeromax as the drivers are actually high power subwoofers, so the more rigid the cabinet, the better
New speaker terminals. Aeromax 2 and 6 feature brand new, audiophile grade, gold plated speaker terminal posts for the ultimate performance
High grade internal cabling. Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) internal cabling for the purest signal path from the audiophile grade, gold plated terminal posts to the crossover and drive units
All of these new features mean that the Aeromax 2 offers stunning attention to detail, serious room-filling sound and radical innovation ideal for modern listening.
Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) Technology
Aeromax uses innovative full-range BMR (Balance Mode Radiator) drivers instead of traditional tweeters.
With traditional tweeters, the crossover between the tweeter and driver happens at about 3kHz, right at the point where our ears are most sensitive to any distortions or differences between the two sources. With a BMR driver, the crossover happens at 250Hz, far outside the most sensitive hearing frequencies. The result is fantastically clear, natural and coherent audio.
Our 4th generation BMR tweeters also create sound using horizontal vibration modes for a much wider sound which is hugely beneficial when positioning speakers in awkward locations.
That's not the only advantage of BMR: the driver construction also delivers a more room-filling sound. This makes them ideal for modern homes and room layouts where speakers might not end up placed optimally for traditional stereo. You can place the Aeromax speakers where you want, without using a protractor and measuring tape, and still get stunning stereo and surround effects.
