Spotify's Year in Music 2015

Spotify’s 75 million users have listened to 20 BILLION hours of music in 2015 and created upwards of 2 billion playlists. It’ll be interesting to see how these figures will look this time next year with Apple Music on the loose, but in the interim, let’s get prematurely nostalgic and review what a lot of us have been listening to in the past 12 months…

Major Lazer’s ‘Lean On’ received over 540 million plays, and we’re sure these figures will be getting another injection over Christmas party season.  If you haven’t already, check out more tracks by MØ (who features on Lean on), we think she’s ace, start with ‘Pilgrim’.

If you’d told us in 2014 that we’d be all over a track by Maroon 5 this year, we’d have sniggered in a derisive fashion. There’s no denying it though, ‘Sugar’ has become a firm favourite for a Friday singalong in the office. And no, we can’t hit those high notes but we give it a good go…

Surprisingly, Justin Bieber didn’t make it into any of the Top 5’s but does take the title for the most streams in one day – hitting 36 million plays on 13^th November for his new album ‘Purpose’. We can safely assume he’ll be topping the lists in 2016, but we reckon all credit goes to James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke antics…
