    SOUND QUALITY

    Nothing prepares you for the sound quality of our 851A. Rated at 120 Watts per channel and built with a fastidious attention to detail, it presents your music with astounding depth and incredible clarity. The precision volume control provides remarkable stereo separation, while the overall effect is to give your music collection a new lease of life.

    CONNECTIVITY

    We built the 851A without sonic compromise, and that’s true of the connectivity too. Nine RCA inputs cater for regular analogue inputs, while for high end components there are two sets of balanced XLR inputs. We’ve added a pre-out for connecting to a subwoofer or power amp, while two sets of speaker terminals allow for bi-wiring or running additional speakers in a second location. Finally, Control Bus inputs allow the linking of compatible Cambridge Audio products for easy control from one remote.

    CLASS XD + TWO TRANSFORMERS

    Rather than use Class A or Class AB amplifier designs, we developed a novel and unique new design called Class XD, which combines the sonic purity of Class A and the efficiency of Class AB for the best possible result. For more info on this patented technology click here.

    The primary toroidal transformer provides unrestricted power to the dual mono amplification blocks. It’s a true audiophile transformer that will operate without distortion and with no buzz, interference or hum. While a second, smaller toroidal transformer takes care of pre-amplification processes.     Multiples pannes en cinq ans. Matériel de médiocre qualité. Potentiomètre HS, les inscriptions en façade s'effacent, une entrée HS. Gresillement, SAV inexistant....

    Everything I wanted

    I've been tolerating other amplifiers with DAC so I chose this pure analog model and the sound is perfect. I feel as though my hearing has returned to normal now. Extremely well made and plenty of inputs. Clean uncoloured sound without any digital manipulation. Easy to use. Was told many years ago when choosing an amplifier, pick the heaviest, it will be the best. This one is 15Kg, which proves the point! Over the moon with it. No criticism whatsoever

    Bought one of the last of these and all I can say is Im glad I did. Its made my B&W's sing. The amp is beautifully made and gives a rich but neutral sound, love it

    Unspektakulär fantastisch

    Dieses Gerät ist in der Erscheinung zunächst einmal völlig unspektakulär, meinerseits könnte sogar auf das Display verzichtet werden bzw, mir würde das optisch noch mehr gefallen.

    Aber was den Klang angeht spielt das Gerät deutlich über die Preisklasse hinaus. Es liefert eine für mich ideale Mischung zwischen Präzision (die übertrieben sezierend und nervig klingen kann) und Musikfluss.

    Er spielt in die Musik involvierend, mit PRaT, lässt dabei aber auch keine (erforderlichen) Details außer acht und spielt - wie gesagt - deutlich über die Preisklasse hinaus. Für mich die ideale Mischung.

    Mehr braucht man nicht, mehr kann man kaufen, wenn einen der Spieltrieb packt oder man mehr Bling-Bling braucht, aber das außen vor spielt der 851A ganz oben mit.
