EVO ONE
All-in-One Wireless Streaming Speaker
Digital audio files can be packed with incredible musical detail, but they need to be converted to analogue first for you to hear it. And how good it sounds will depend on how well the digital audio from your computer, network player or CD is converted. DacMagic 200M’s twin ESS DACs decrease crosstalk and improve separation because there’s a DAC dedicated to both left and right channels. These fully balanced, optimised, and efficient signal paths reveal previously hidden glittering musical prizes.
Perhaps your vintage amp lacks the digital inputs for today’s listening choices. Maybe the DACs in your hi-fi setup just need a helping hand. Or you hate how your computer down-samples audio streams before they’ve hit your headphones. One thing’s for sure, DacMagic 200M is a dedicated hi-fi separate that beats integrated DACs for pure sound performance.
DacMagic 200M can be used with a variety of digital sources, maybe kit you already own. Alternatively, you can pair it with its sibling – our MXN10 compact network player. These half-width hi-fi heroes share the same family look and are now available in a choice of special edition black or lunar grey. Together they make a very credible desktop hi-fi system – or ‘head-fi’ if you prefer.
Being compact, but not miniscule, means that DacMagic 200M has room for a plethora of digital inputs and analogue outputs. Two pairs of co-ax and optical inputs, a USB computer in and Bluetooth aptX for wireless connection keep the most demanding listener happy. A pair of balanced XLRs, unbalanced RCAs and a ¼” (6.3mm) headphone-out complete the picture.
Looking for fast, accurate retrieval with no upsampling to keep your music intact? Then DacMagic 200M’s powerful XMOS processor can handle 1000 million instructions per second, to send digital information to the dual DACs, which work asynchronously at a clock speed of 100Mhz to convert digital to analogue in a ‘bit perfect’ way.
DacMagic 200M’s aluminium fascia has a button to select one of 4 possible digital inputs, another to pick one of 3 digital filters to suit your listening taste, and a volume control if you’re using it as a headphone amp. There are LED lights to confirm your input and filter selection, with additional ones that indicate the incoming music resolution.
If you’re signed up to Tidal’s premium service, you can enjoy MQA music files. A green LED, on DacMagic 200M’s fascia, confirms it’s a genuine MQA music file. While a blue MQA LED indicates that you’re listening to a file approved by the artist/producer or verified by the copyright holder as accurate to the original recording. Put simply, blue is best.
DacMagic 200M’s small enough to fit a desktop, but big to hold its own in a stack. Within its half-width hi-fi separates form, it delivers a sonic upgrade that’s way bigger than the steel and aluminium case it comes in – now in a choice of lunar grey or special edition black finish. Take our 60-day home trial to hear it for yourself.

Unfortunately, the dac can't manage to keep up with sample rate and MQA status changes and this results in a confounding stutter at the start of every track in a placelist when rate changes occur and the LEDs start blinking and trying to arrive at the correct bit depth and MQA status

Good sounding, nice looking, overall solid choice for a DAC in this price range. But its amp is too weak to drive. I have problems with my unit, when it plays MQA file I can't change to the filter I want, always in Short Delay filter,

I wrote a review when I got my first DM200 . My firend just gave me a second one.
The first one is now in my basement setup with USB to the DM feeding a Michi RHC10 and RHB10 combo.
I have a second Michi Combo in my living room driven by an amazon echolink for streaming. I was supposed to use the second DM200 on this setup.
I have small kitchen setup of a Yamaha ca800 in Class A into a Michi RHB05 amp driven from my Roku TV and a 1Mii 05 Dac with ess chip.
My wife asked me to put on some music and I saw the DM200 sitting on the speaker after getting it home and figured I would insert it in this kitchen setup.
I was just flabbergasted at how this raised the level of this setup to a more audiophile trip.
I have a few test tracks that I like to use for testing. With just this dac on the front end tracks that I found lack luster with my kitchen setup began to rival my Michi setups.
I kid you not , I flicked the tone controls on the CA800 to neutral and listened to everything straight when I usually tip into frequencies to get my sound.
DM200 gave me kick and more rounded bass. better mids and highs. . . an improvement all across the spectrum.
I find the DM200 brings everything to the forefront in high definition. The soundstage is fully reproduced with space for every element. nothing gets muddy or wiped out. from cymbals horns etc everything is controlled for a clear output.
Joyce Cooling's mm mm good never had kick like this with the other dac.
Symphonic Tone Poem for brother Yusef : second movement is a challenging track. I've listened to this on my kitchen setup and was disappointed before and thought it was just my system not being that great. Through DM200 it gets incredibly HIFI in the bells and other assorted instruments. This is a track with so many highs and lows simultaneously that it throws a wrench in any good setup.
Dac Magic . . . it truly is.
Classical strings became more stringent like hearing them live. Operatic voices were heavenly as well as Lou Rawls Black and Blue album with St James infirmary and more amazing tracks.
ToM Sawyer starts with a Kick that I couldn't recreate on this system before DM200. It just floored me that I was getting so much more from just changing 1 component in this setup.
The point is I thought my kitchen setup was good enough . With The Dac Magic it becomes way better than I needs to be.
I intend to get another 2 of these for my other stereo set ups. I can't believe anyone who pans this product but we are all entitled to our opinion. DM200M is my dream dac and definitely changed performance in my systems.
I highly recommend this product
