AXR100
With 100 watts of power and FM/AM tuner too, AXR100 is an amp to be taken seriously – thanks to an integrated phono stage for easy connection of a turntable, and Bluetooth to play music wirelessly from a smartphone. Dedicated subwoofer output for driving bass, and two sets of speaker outputs add to R100’s appeal. While plenty of sockets front and rear build on that versatility.
AXR100 is a powerful receiver aimed at listening to music, and appreciating how it’s been recorded, from a variety of sources – including its own integrated tuner. Hi-fi separates like AXR100 are designed to take a signal, amplify it and output to your speakers. Choose speakers to suit your own taste – this powerful unit certainly gives you options.
With all the talk of streaming, it’s sometimes easy to forget the simple pleasure of radio. Turn it on, and it just works. With AXR100 you can programme up to 40 favourite stations and retrieve them, without having to re-scan. Station information, thanks to RDS, is shown on the white LED dot matrix display.
A built-in phono stage is one of many aces up AXR100’s sleeve. You can plug a turntable straight into the rear sockets without any extra kit. Moving magnet compatibility means it works with a wide range of turntables – including that vintage one you’ve always wanted to dust off. Soon you’ll be playing the records you already own and planning the next purchases.
Thanks to integrated Bluetooth 5.0, it’s simple to play music from your phone, laptop, or other compatible device on AXR100. It’s a great way for friends to share music with you, helping you to discover new favourite albums – before you splash out on a vinyl copy.
AXR100 is a very well-connected receiver, with 3 pairs of analogue RCA inputs, moving magnet phono section for a turntable and a pair of recording outputs. There’s a single digital coax in, as well as 2 optical connectors. Hi-fi quality speaker binding posts (connectors), for 2 sets of speakers, mean that thick cable connects securely for an authentic sound.
As with the rest of the AX Series, AXR100 shares our house-style of Lunar Grey minimalist fascia, black steel cabinet and ‘floating’ base. This timeless look allows for an upgrade path through our range. A relatively slim build, in the classic 430mm hi-fi width, also means that AXR100 can easily slot into a much-loved system.

I’ve had the AXR 100 for several months now and it is just so impressive. It functions flawlessly and has excellent features. I primarily use it for a turntable but I have used the Bluetooth function which is amazing. Well engineered product. Price was right too.

Good sound. But there is some floor noise even 30 cm from speakers. Also a unit has a lot of problems with BT connection to Mac, when there is also a mouse connected to Mac. It seems that connection order is important (first axr, then mouse). Otherwise sound just keep breaking up. I got replacement unit, and at first I tought that it was ok, but I figured out that BT later on.
So maybe with firmware upgrade BT would be ok. That background floor noise is just not something I expected.
This unit is exactly what I was looking for in features and more importantly sound quality. I have paired it with the Elac Debut DF62 floor standers. The combination is very magical. I listen to a very wide variety of music from classical to EDM and everything in between and the performance of this receiver is without pear. Over the last 45 years I have owned a huge selection of audio gear. Some of it from super high end companies. This combination gives me as much or more pleasure than most of my past systems. I am so impressed with the sound of the AXR100. It is smooth, detailed and when called for hugely dynamic. The soundstage is deep, wide and very spacious with great instrument placement. It has surprised me on a number of occasions with it soundstage prowess. It handles all my sources with ease. PS, The phono stage is really good also! The best thing I can say is that I can listen to the AXR100 for hours and hours without fatigue. It encourages me to listen to more music longer and is capable of giving me goose bumps. Very pleased with this purchase.
