AXR100
With 100 watts of power and FM/AM tuner too, AXR100 is an amp to be taken seriously – thanks to an integrated phono stage for easy connection of a turntable, and Bluetooth to play music wirelessly from a smartphone. Dedicated subwoofer output for driving bass, and two sets of speaker outputs add to R100’s appeal. While plenty of sockets front and rear build on that versatility.
AXR100 is a powerful receiver aimed at listening to music, and appreciating how it’s been recorded, from a variety of sources – including its own integrated tuner. Hi-fi separates like AXR100 are designed to take a signal, amplify it and output to your speakers. Choose speakers to suit your own taste – this powerful unit certainly gives you options.
With all the talk of streaming, it’s sometimes easy to forget the simple pleasure of radio. Turn it on, and it just works. With AXR100 you can programme up to 40 favourite stations and retrieve them, without having to re-scan. Station information, thanks to RDS, is shown on the white LED dot matrix display.
A built-in phono stage is one of many aces up AXR100’s sleeve. You can plug a turntable straight into the rear sockets without any extra kit. Moving magnet compatibility means it works with a wide range of turntables – including that vintage one you’ve always wanted to dust off. Soon you’ll be playing the records you already own and planning the next purchases.
Thanks to integrated Bluetooth 5.0, it’s simple to play music from your phone, laptop, or other compatible device on AXR100. It’s a great way for friends to share music with you, helping you to discover new favourite albums – before you splash out on a vinyl copy.
AXR100 is a very well-connected receiver, with 3 pairs of analogue RCA inputs, moving magnet phono section for a turntable and a pair of recording outputs. There’s a single digital coax in, as well as 2 optical connectors. Hi-fi quality speaker binding posts (connectors), for 2 sets of speakers, mean that thick cable connects securely for an authentic sound.
As with the rest of the AX Series, AXR100 shares our house-style of Lunar Grey minimalist fascia, black steel cabinet and ‘floating’ base. This timeless look allows for an upgrade path through our range. A relatively slim build, in the classic 430mm hi-fi width, also means that AXR100 can easily slot into a much-loved system.

This revived replaced a 351A integrated amp. Initially the AXR100 didn’t seem to sound quite as good. I’m not sure why, other than the 351 has a few internal features that might be the difference. However, after changing the initial setup I feel that it comes very close.
My first hookup was just the normal speaker A to two speakers. After listening, I didn’t feel like it had the depth that the 351 did. But, I read the manual and discovered that you can bi-amp using speaker A and B. So hookup A to the highs, B to the lows. This made a big difference. It sounds amazing. So I ended up really liking the sound of the receiver. Just for reference, I’m using Paradigm Monitor 9’s, V7’s.
Other features I like are the Bluetooth, connects easily. It also has has lots of inputs too, so you can hook anything up.
Fit and finish are very nice.

It performed as expected with my Turntable Rega ... I use it for the PHONO input and BLUETOOTH input only ... Both works well.

I have had this amp for about six months now. Long enought to write a review. Overall a fanastic value, sound is full excellent really. Controls are easy to operate. The amp is paired with the Cambridge ACX35 CD player and the outstanding AEROMAX 2 Speakers. I listen to a veriety of music, mostly Jazz singers Diana Krall, Tierney Sutton etc. Really excellent sound stage and peasing sound. I can't beleive it can get anybetter than this.
The bluetooth is a little short on distance that's fine I just leave my phone on the shelf by the amp. Sound is CD quality. I like the remote which is easy to operate and the Bluetooth pairs righ away. Also the added bonus is the radio, both AM and FM. I use both. Overall one of the best amps I have owned.
Best bang for the buck!

I struggled to bid farewell to the trusted amplifier I’d had for just over 20 years. I needed something special to pair up with a pair of Falcon speakers. The AXR100 has delivered. Just today i’ve listened to classical music, spiritual jazz, a set of ragas recorded in Lahore, dub, ambient synth music, French chanson, cheesy Xmas songs, and on and on. It’s all sounding superb on the ears.
