AXR100
With 100 watts of power and FM/AM tuner too, AXR100 is an amp to be taken seriously – thanks to an integrated phono stage for easy connection of a turntable, and Bluetooth to play music wirelessly from a smartphone. Dedicated subwoofer output for driving bass, and two sets of speaker outputs add to R100’s appeal. While plenty of sockets front and rear build on that versatility.
AXR100 is a powerful receiver aimed at listening to music, and appreciating how it’s been recorded, from a variety of sources – including its own integrated tuner. Hi-fi separates like AXR100 are designed to take a signal, amplify it and output to your speakers. Choose speakers to suit your own taste – this powerful unit certainly gives you options.
With all the talk of streaming, it’s sometimes easy to forget the simple pleasure of radio. Turn it on, and it just works. With AXR100 you can programme up to 40 favourite stations and retrieve them, without having to re-scan. Station information, thanks to RDS, is shown on the white LED dot matrix display.
A built-in phono stage is one of many aces up AXR100’s sleeve. You can plug a turntable straight into the rear sockets without any extra kit. Moving magnet compatibility means it works with a wide range of turntables – including that vintage one you’ve always wanted to dust off. Soon you’ll be playing the records you already own and planning the next purchases.
Thanks to integrated Bluetooth 5.0, it’s simple to play music from your phone, laptop, or other compatible device on AXR100. It’s a great way for friends to share music with you, helping you to discover new favourite albums – before you splash out on a vinyl copy.
AXR100 is a very well-connected receiver, with 3 pairs of analogue RCA inputs, moving magnet phono section for a turntable and a pair of recording outputs. There’s a single digital coax in, as well as 2 optical connectors. Hi-fi quality speaker binding posts (connectors), for 2 sets of speakers, mean that thick cable connects securely for an authentic sound.
As with the rest of the AX Series, AXR100 shares our house-style of Lunar Grey minimalist fascia, black steel cabinet and ‘floating’ base. This timeless look allows for an upgrade path through our range. A relatively slim build, in the classic 430mm hi-fi width, also means that AXR100 can easily slot into a much-loved system.

I bought the AXR100 to replace an old Yamaha receiver. They are paired with a pair of ELAC DBR62 speakers. The FM reception is great, I pick up stations that my old Carver tuner with a FM antenna in the attic has trouble receiving. I have used the Bluetooth to stream music from my phone and have no issues with it cutting out. I also stream music from Tidal with a Bluesound NODE 2i and the sound is full and has good imaging. I agree it is not as full of a sound as my CXA81 but very nice for a product in this price range.
I have no problems with fan noise, all the buttons function solidly and the overall build quality is very good. I would recommend the AXR100 to anyone looking for a solid receiver with a great sound that does not wear on you.
It drives my Definitive Technology - Demand 11 and the final result is spectacular.. I'm super happy with that product! The only issue that I hate a bit is very loud fan (louder than my 7yo PC) working almost constantly - so if you listen to your music in almost total silence and quietly be careful.
My son took my older Topaz 20 (truly outstanding), so I bought this as probably an updated version. Clean am, solid DAC, bluetooth, high end look. It drives my Canton GLE 436.2 pedestal mount speakers cleanly, and brings out the bass.

I bought one new and had problems with poor bluetooth connection from the very start. Despite having my iPhone / MacBook Pro located within 2m of the receiver in the same room, the connection intermittently drops out, stutters or crackles frequently enough to require disconnection, reconnection, restating the bluetooth module, powering off/on etc. Sometimes it just disconnects by itself. I tried everything to isolate the problem and within a couple of weeks the Cambridge distributor supplied a replacement receiver. I still have the same problem with the replacement product, and am about to offload it to some poor sap while I look for another product that will actually work as it's designed. The remote control is also a piece of poorly designed junk which looks more suited to a cheap tv. This product should be a major source of embarrassment for the company.
