There’s a complete purity of purpose to CXC. It’s built to read the digital audio information on CDs with absolute accuracy and consistency. It then passes that signal on to a DAC, like our DacMagic 200M or the high-quality DACs found in CX amplifiers. Each component in CXC is focused on performing this task with precision.
Precision Driving
The disc drive in CXC was originally designed by our engineers for our high-end CD players. The renowned S3 Servo is no multi-purpose disc drive. By spinning audio CDs at the exact speed required for data retrieval, it provides CXC with award-winning sonic precision and stability.
Let’s Get Physical
CXC benefits from an acoustically dampened metal chassis. It ensures that external forces don’t interfere with the digital signal. CXC has a choice of S/PDIF digital outputs – one coax, the other optical. Pick the one that best suits your DAC, be that a standalone unit or one integrated into an amplifier.
Complete Control
CXC comes with a remote control, so you can choose exactly what to listen to. And all CX Series remotes can control every CX component, so you only need one device handy for key commands. Alternatively, use the controls on the front of CXC.

CD player has a great sound, but after 2 years of very limited usage stopped reading CDs. It can't read CD anymore. It looks it is manufactured only for 2 years or warranty period. Now I only get an error after every CD I try. Very disappointed.

Even though I'm streaming most of the time through Roon and my CXNv2. I do enjoy playing a CD every now and then, even though I have ripped my whole collection so my Roon Core has access to them.
I've connected the CXC to the optical input on my CXNv2, as my amplifier only has a single digital input which was already in use.
But the combination of the CXC and CXNv2 work wonderfully together. Through a single remote. They turn on/off together and both devices just work.
The CXC is very quiet and so far it has played all my CD's without issue.
The only downside I can think of is that it is a transport, and its reliant on the hardware it is connected to (amplifier, DAC) to produce sound. Hence my 4 star rating on value.

This is my second unit. The first was purchased in October of 2018. It was replaced at the end of December of 2019. Now, on the Eve of Thanksgiving, I am getting a loud, shuttering noise when I either open the drawer or close the drawer. Some days, it is noiseless; other days, it shutters. Now, almost three years later - with a collection of over 300 CDs - I will be faced with either a repair - where the cost could approximate its purchase price of $397.00 or purchase a new one, at $599.00? It a sonic wonder but mechanically, it is becoming a harbinger of either repair or replacement?
