Inside, we take things up a level with a new ESS ES9028Q2M SABRE32 DAC and our Gen 4 StreamMagic module. The Whole Story
CXN100’s circuitry has been totally re-designed to capitalise on the ESS ES9028Q2M SABRE32 Digital Analogue Converter’s 32-bit capabilities. We’ve been able to simplify the audio signal path and tune our carefully chosen components’ performance to make sure that nothing comes between you and the original recording. The result? A warmth, depth and nuance not often associated with digital audio.
StreamMagic
If the DAC is the CXN100’s heart, then our StreamMagic Gen 4 module is its brain. It runs our custom-made streaming platform and app, which we’ve perfected for well-over a decade. It’s responsible for the network player’s slick, seamless and stable listening experience from any digital source. CXN100’s firmware can also be upgraded over-the-air to receive updates and access to new services.
Control. Pure and Simple
A beautifully smooth volume dial and large colour display take the experience of playing music from CXN100 up a level. The StreamMagic app is your remote control, giving you intuitive command of connected sources – curate playlists, program pre-sets or browse albums from the comfort of your listening position. CXN100 also works with the physical remote control supplied with CXC and CXA components.

My CXA81 needed it!
There's no doubt in my mind the CXN100 is the top-notch, the high(est) quality piece of equipment. Just throw at it a right audio file and it will offer you a real audio feast. But, the keyword here is - the "right audio file"! The CXN100, along with the CXA81, is extremely unforgiving to "imperfect" files: you'll quickly notice missing highs, missing lows, missing this or that; audio being poor, muddy, difficult to listen....
Thus, I ran into numerous TIDAL tunes with high quality tag - 24-bit, etc, etc, that were painful to listen. Ouch. Most of the (Tidal) radio stations are "forget it"! IMHO - Internet broadcasting, despite some certain bright spots, still has a long way to go.
Where the CXN100 shines for me - the audio I'm sending to it from my Macs and mobile Apple devices is really, really good (I do have a whole bunch of not-so-right files, too, and it feels). The Airplay at times needs just a bit of brightening up, perhaps up to +2dB between 8 and 16Khz, while the Bluetooth feed is almost perfect, both through my own MP3/MP4 files and Apple Music lossless (radio included) broadcast. Extremely enjoyable.
So, I love my CXN100 - my CXA81 needed it. No regrets. Not at all. Also - looks cool ;-)Response from

Cambridge CXN100 Streamer
The XCN100 is connected to my Roxsan Kandy lll system 18 years young, and sounds fantastic, I’m connected my Roksan CD player to the Digital input, the DAC enhanced my listening experience. I’ve connected my WiiM Pro to the Coax input which again has improved sound, as I have a large backlog of music and radio stations, which hopefully in time will transfer them. I can fully recommend this beautiful streamer cosmetically and Sound. Well done Cambridge.

Very good product. Installed it a couple of days after reception. A bit difficult to connect with at first via StreamMagic, but probably a protection on my mobile was making it difficult. After disactivating Norton Safe Web, it worked fine. Easy to connect to Deezer or any radio. One very nice feature is the control of the CXA81 via StreamMagic, having connected the control bus cable from the CXN to the CXA. Whereas the main drawback of the remote control of the CXA is its sharp directivity, StreamMagic enables to get rid of that. It can switch the CXA On and Off, and control the volume, even when CXA is palying from another input than the CXN. Brilliant. Only thing is if it could have switched it on the CXN input as well when switching it On. Maybe on a future relase of the CXN, if the CXA can receive such a command via the control bus.
All this not mentioning the sound quality, outstanding by all standards. A very good buy.
