I love how they sound. period. I love mids and soundstage, those are my two criteria. It absolutely knocks it off the park with that. I dont have aptx lossless so i usually plug it in when I want a good listening session.
The design is fantastic. comfortable, sturdy, understated. It is refreshing to own a pair of headphones that stand out from the crowd but don't scream. Love the fact that I can change the batteries and cushions.
So if sound and design is your priority, this is it.
Here's what could be a concern. ANC is not that good. Which is fine! It's good for most scenarios.
There are some glitches. I'm sure these are an update away. But for now the issues are somewhat annoying and take away from the experience:
1. When i want to plug-in via usb C, I need an option to not charge it. To just listen via USB C
2. It really gets confused when there's two devices connected . Lots of issues with playback, annoying artefacts, have to turn them off-on again to work.
3. Why is the sound during calls so bad? It catches everything from the microphone and hinders the ANC
Comfy to wear all day. Sound great and noise cancelling is superb - perfect timing for the start of the summer holidays and kids back from school! Only slightly downside is they feel a little large. I have no basis for comparison and ultimately you probably cant have all the great performance without compromising on the size so I'm perhaps being a little unfair.
I was swithering between buying these and the Sony MX4/5 or one of the Bose Quiet Comfort offerings but the price of these cans plus the prestige that Cambridge Audio have pushed me in their direction. The 60 day return policy is a nice touch too.
Out of the box, the sound quality is excellent and I've not fell the need to create any of my own EQ settings yet. Tested songs included Lola Young 'Messy' and 'Never any Good' by Martin Simpson (gorgeous, gorgeous tune!). Hearing way more layers to the songs than I get on my Sony MX4 earbuds and it feels truly immersive. ANC is great, I don't have any on ear cans to compare it to but they're significantly better than my Sony 'buds and they cut out most if not all of the ambient noises when I have music on. Music off they're great too and do a great job of cutting out most background noise.
I haven't noticed any issues with clicks or rattles when moving around with them (another reviewer mentioned this), the build quality is great. They don't fold away but I knew this before buying them and it wasn't a factor for me, I'll mostly be wearing them at home or on plane/ferry journeys.
Battery life seems to be as advertised. They came with an 85% charge and are only down at 79% at the time of writing. They arrived on Saturday, I wore them for a few hours that afternoon and I've had them on most of Monday so far.
The voice prompt options are a nice touch and obviously, I've chosen the Matt Berry 'Southwark' voice!
