Aero 5

Premium Centre Speaker

The dialogue speaker with a difference. Using a BMR® driver instead of a traditional tweeter gives the Aero 5 several key advantages – adding up to a radical difference in audio quality compared to its rivals. The result when applied to the vital centre channel is nothing less than stunning.

By replacing the traditional tweeter with a BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) driver, the Aero 5 offers a radical difference in audio quality compared to its rivals. Using the BMR shifts the crossover point between tweeter and woofer away from the usual 3kHz, right at the middle of the human ear's most sensitive hearing range, to a less problematic 250Hz. The result is a more natural, immersive and coherent sound.

The BMR® driver construction also delivers a more room-filling sound. This makes them ideal for modern homes and room layouts where speakers might not end up placed optimally for traditional stereo audio. Aero cabinets are designed not only to look classic, discreet and stylish, but also are constructed using CAD techniques and critical bracing to minimise distortion and maximise audio quality.

ULTIMATE LOW END POWER

Using BMR® drivers means that Aero series woofers get to really bark. By concentrating the matching Aero 9 subwoofer below 250Hz and ensuring the non-BMR® drivers are also concentrated in the lower frequencies, the result is cinematic, immersive sound with sumptuous and accurate bass.

What Hi-Fi?

United Kingdom,

“Cambridge Audio has been brave here. It has pushed what is still a new technology into a relatively conservative part of the market, and come up with a package to challenge the best around.”

Home Theatre Choice

United States,

"Tweeters can be troublesome things. The smaller they are, the more broadly they disperse high-frequency sound - but the more they also tend to distort at lower frequencies. The Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) -- a technology licensed by NXT and popularized largely through Cambridge Audio's Minx speakers -- seeks to solve this problem with a unique driver that works like both a midrange and a tweeter."

The Ear

United Kingdom,

"This speaker delivered oodles of detail, a chunky bottom end and texture of the sort rarely heard at this price."

Home Cinema Choice

United Kingdom,

"The BMR drivers help deliver a big, cohesive 5.1 soundstage that fills a room better than most packages at this price, while its considerable muscle will leave you invigorated and entertained."

"One of the finest affordable floorstanders you'll hear, make sure you audition it now."
